OUZO'S TOP TEN FOR 2009
SO IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN, OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW... THIS IS THE TIME OF YEAR THAT MOST PEOPLE START THINKING ABOUT NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS AND, WELL, I AM NO DIFFERENT (ACTUALLY I AM, BECAUSE THAT'S NOT WHAT THINKING ABOUT THAT AT ALL). NO NO NO, I AM GOING TO GIVE YOU AN OUZO TOP 10 PREDICTION LIST FOR 2009. READ IT AND WEAP.
NUMBER 1:
HIP-HOP IS GOING TO MAKE A PROPER COMEBACK!
That's right, i can hear you all now 'no it isn't, how is that so...?'. Well it is just my opinion, I have heard lots of good stuff recently and i have a feeling you might just be rushing out to get a fresh pair of AF1's before you know it!
NUMBER 2:
ARTHUR RUSSELL
I have recently posted about the genius that is Arthur Russell and my prediction is that the cool kids are gonna go mad for this guy in 2009! He looks like every other joker in East London, just 20+ years ahead of his time. Musically brilliant, and one to watch! If you don't know about him, then get to know!
NUMBER 3:
BRITISH HOLIDAYS
When people are trying to save cash, the logical thing to do is to cut back on luxuries. Overseas flights definitely fall into that category! Why samba in Brazil when you can go to Margate? Why go to Rockies when you can go to the Valley's? Surfing in Hawaai? Don't bother, just go to Cornwall instead. San Francisco... forget about it, we have Brighton!!!!! see, we have loads of places to take your hols... ; )

MOUSTACHES AND FLOPPY HAIR

COMMUNISM
OK OK, the government isn't in danger of being overthrown, but I am refering to a communist attitude amongst the people rather than the political regiem! As money tightens we will all feel compelled to help our neighbour and share more and stuff... well it's a nice thought.

BANANA PHONE (ORIGINAL, NOT MATRIX RIP OFF)
It's been too long, not enough people have given this beautiful piece of technology some love.
In these times of Facebook, MySpace, the blogesphere and iPhones people are finding it harder to make time to think. Free yourself from your Blackberry and emails and give yourself some space. A phone which makes phone calls, revolutionary idea me thinks.

MINI DISC PLAYERS AND MINI DISCS
Now i though these were cool the first time around but they still kick ass now! perfect re-recordable portable device, digital quality SUPER felxible. If you make music, like music, or just want something more reliable that a second generation iPod, then get one of these. Well worth it in my opinion!

LIVERPOOL FC CROWNED PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

BIKES WITH BRAKES AND GEARS!!!!!!
In the light 0f Britain's most successful Olympics in my lifetime, Chris Hoy was knighted yesterday, with half of the rest of the GB Olympic team. For those of you who don't know Chris Hoy, he is a track cyclist who won three gold medals this summer in Beijing and now a minor celeb who will do anything for some publicity! He won those medals riding a track bike (or what trendy kids call, a 'fixie') and contrary to what the guy selling you a 'fixie' would say, should be left on track! Chris Hoy DOESN'T ride his track bike on the road (he's a pro kids) so neither should you. Here's having no brakes or gears can be like on a TRACK with no TRAFFIC! So please go and buy some proper bikes, before there are no more plaid shirts or moustaches left in East London! Enjoy. x

ZOMBY
Easy, merry XMAS peeps!!!!
here is another cut from ZOMBY, who I am a massive fan of. 'Where were you in 92' ' was definitely in my top three albums of the year!
Topping off a vintage year for Zomby releases, Hyperdub finally curl out the highly anticipated 'Zomby EP'. The man's mind has been brimming with ideas this year, from his liquid plastic version of Various' 'Hater' to the ridiculously spooned 'Liquid Dancehall' 12", it's become very apparent that the dancefloor is a different place now that Zomby has arrived alognside Rustie, Hud Mo, Ikonika and friends. The introductory track 'Spaceman' has just left us baffled at what rhythm to latch onto. 'Kaliko' stretches the wonky time sigantures right off the page again, with a seemingly freeflowing melody in the finest 'ZigZag' style. His knack for creating poignantly effective but brief tracks as espoused on 'Where Were You in '92' is revisited on 'Test Me for A reason', with a lamplit 2-step minidrama, which leads us into his most demanded track, 'Aquafresh'.
This is definitely worth the P's, even in these difficult economic times.
Buy it, download it, release it.
